Previous knowledges : Mathematics I
Aids and special features :
Teaching aims : The students are familiar with the basic concepts of probability theory. They can calculate total probabilities and apply Bayes' theorem. The students are able to calculate the mean, variance, and standard deviation of random variables. They are familiar with the following probability distributions and understand when each is applicable: binomial, hypergeometric, and Gaussian normal distribution. They can interpret the central limit theorem and the law of large numbers.
Contents :

Kolmogorov axioms, Laplace random experiments, stochastic independence of events, conditional probabilities, Bayes' theorem, random variables, expected value, variance and standard deviation, distribution and densitiy function special probability distributions (e.g., binomial, hypergeometric, Poisson, Gaussian/normal distribution), law of large numbers, central limit theorem.
